Laura Perry

Laura Perry is a bassist and vocalist based in Madison, Wisconsin. Her chamber music credits include performances with Midsummer’s Music Festival, Samtala: Musicians in Dialogue, Ensemble Aubergine, and “From the Top” (UW-Madison’s Treble Vocal Jazz group of which she is a founding member). She can be found in the pit for productions through Children’s Theater of Madison as well as Four Seasons Theatre, and frequently plays principal bass with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Symphony Orchestra. Outside of performing, Laura is a passionate educator and advocate for young musicians, volunteering at the Richard Davis Foundation for Young Bassists, tutoring undergraduate music theory courses at UW-Madison, as well as substitute teaching for the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras “Music Makers” program. She has previously studied bass with David Scholl and Peter Dominguez, and voice with the esteemed Dr. Julia Rottmayer. Laura has received international recognition for her work in vocal jazz (a recipient of a Downbeat Award for Outstanding Vocal Jazz Soloist in 2023).
