Carolyn Van De Velde
Violin & Viola
Carolyn Van De Velde is a professional violinist and educator living in Madison, Wisconsin. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in violin performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and studies with the acclaimed David Perry. Carolyn enjoys working as a teaching assistant for the UW Symphony Orchestra and was also a member of the Rabin Graduate Student Quartet, where she extensively studied chamber music with the ProArte Quartet. She has a small studio of violin and viola students of all ages and has performed with the Madison Symphony Orchestra. In January of 2026 Carolyn helped organize a new ensemble called Ensemble Aubergine, where she and other local musicians put on chamber concerts to help raise money for food pantries. She has been a member of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra since 2019, and was a private teacher of a studio of 27 students for their private lesson program. Carolyn has played in many Midwest orchestras including Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Heartland Festival Orchestra, LaCrosse Symphony Orchestra, and Chicago Civic Orchestra. Carolyn received her Bachelors Degree from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and completed her Artistic Diploma in Vienna, Austria at the Vienna Konservatorium, where she studied with Barbara Gozynska for five years. Her other principle teachers have included Stefan Milenkovich, John MacFarlane and Michael Hining. She has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Joshua Bell, Yo-Yo Ma, Michael Bublé, and Hamilton’s René Elise Goldsberry. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband Scott, cooking, drawing and playing with her rescue dog, Winston.
